UPDATE: I added a second LED indicator for power, and a push-type power switch. There is also an on-board jumper option for the output configuration, as well as a few other new improvements.
I am happy to announce that I have a working prototype of the new UKA-3 kit! I will be offering this kit for sale as soon as I make a few small changes and have the boards and cabinets in. Kits should begin shipping mid-June.
The Universal Keying Adapter 3 is a replacement for the UKA-2 kit. All of the UKA-2′s features remain, but the UKA-3 has a few new features:
- The circuit board is designed to fit into a high quality extruded aluminum cabinet, which I will be making available with all custom cutting and drilling already done.
- A header connector can be added to remote mount connectors or wire the circuit board directly into other equipment.
- The kit will be available with or without the power and I/O connectors, for those who want to build it into their own equipment.
As always, the kit will consist of a high quality, double-sided solder masked and silkscreened PCB, all parts needed to build the kit, complete instructions, and optionally a custom aluminum enclosure with plastic end panels. If you’re in Dayton, you can stop by and see us in booth 482 to see the prototype.
I will continue to make the UKA-2 kit available until my existing supply is gone — after that I do not plan another run of the UKA-2. My best guess is that we’ll have enough UKA-2 kits to last through the end of the year.
